KEEP THIS PAGE HANDY

Your little
owner guide.

Start with one small task. Make the notebook your own as you go.

Windows

  1. Download the Windows installer.
  2. If you are updating, export a backup and close the app first.
  3. Open the Setup EXE, finish installation, then use the desktop or Start Menu shortcut.

The installer is unsigned. Native Windows installation verification remains pending. Your list saves locally; use Backup notebook to keep a portable copy.

Mac preview

  1. Choose Apple Silicon for an M-series Mac, or Intel for an Intel Mac. Check Apple menu → About This Mac if unsure.
  2. Open the ZIP and drag the application into Applications.
  3. Launch the application from Applications, then personalize your notebook in Customize.

Requires macOS 13 or later. These previews have ad-hoc integrity signatures but are not Apple Developer ID signed or notarized. Native Mac launch verification is pending. If macOS blocks opening, verify the download’s source and checksum before using Privacy & Security → Open Anyway, if offered. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally.

Command+N starts a task; Command+F opens Find; Command+, opens Customize; Command+Shift+S opens Backup. The red window button saves and closes the window; the Dock reopens it. Command+Q saves before quitting.

Android

  1. Download the APK on an Android 9 or newer phone with an updated Android System WebView.
  2. Open it from your browser’s downloads or Files app. If prompted, allow that app to install this download, then complete Android’s installation screen.
  3. Open Personal Do It List. The menu button opens pages, sections, backups and Morning Reset.

This is a signed direct-install package, not a Google Play listing. Physical-phone testing remains pending. Notebook data is private to the installed app. Export a backup before uninstalling or clearing app data; Android removes private data when you do either. Install future APK updates over the existing app to retain its notebook; updates must use the same release signing key.

The Back button first closes an open menu, panel or dialog; otherwise it requests a save before putting the notebook in the background. The new-task input is a draft until you tap Add.

Make your first little list

  1. Write a task and press Enter or tap Add.
  2. Tap the text to edit it, the circle to complete it, or the star to prioritize it.
  3. Use the row arrows to reorder or move a task. The details button changes its date, section or repeat rule.
  4. Open Calendar for any date. Work, Personal and Projects are ready to use; add your own sections.
  5. Capture unscheduled ideas in Brain Dump, then send them to Today when ready.

Recurring work can be daily, weekly or monthly. Monthly tasks keep their original day number, using the last day in a shorter month. Completing one occurrence does not stop the series; change Repeat to none to stop future occurrences.

A little more you

Customize lets you add a name or leave it blank, choose six paper colors, change ink, pick a completion style and add your own affirmations. Stickers can be moved, resized and rotated. Turn Little celebrations off for quieter check-offs, or Reduce page motion to stop interface animations. System reduced-motion preferences are respected too.

Keep your notebook safe

  1. Choose Backup notebook and save the JSON file somewhere you can find again.
  2. Keep a copy outside the app’s data folder, such as in a folder you back up or on another drive.
  3. On another device, choose Restore backup, select that JSON file and review the replacement confirmation.

Restore validates the notebook and preserves a local pre-restore copy. It replaces the destination notebook; it does not merge notebooks. Backups contain tasks, history, sections, ideas, recurrence rules, stickers and preferences. They are not encrypted, so keep them private.

There is no automatic synchronization between devices. Export and restore are deliberate transfers. The installed Windows, portable Windows, Mac and Android copies each use their own notebook.

If something goes wrong

If saving fails, keep the app open, export a backup, fix the storage problem and tap the save status to retry. A corrupt notebook is preserved rather than silently replaced with an empty one. Restore a valid backup if recovery is required. Do not delete the data folder as a routine troubleshooting step.

Morning Reset moves older unfinished work onto today after confirmation. Completed work stays on its original pages. Carry-forward moves unfinished tasks from the page and section you’re viewing.
